Treichel
Bell knowledge · Bells & range
A Treichel is a livestock bell made from shaped sheet steel. Both hand-forged and machine-made versions are available.
Shaped sheet steel rather than cast bronze
While a bronze bell is cast in a mould, a Treichel’s body is made from shaped sheet steel. Shape, size, material thickness and clapper work together to produce its sound.
Depending on the region and shape, you may also encounter names such as Schelle, Plumpen or Fahrtreichel. These terms are not used consistently everywhere. The specific model is therefore more important than the name alone when choosing.

Hand-forged or machine-made?
Hand-forged Treicheln are worked primarily by hand. We also offer machine-made models in various shapes. The specifications of each model and a sound sample help you compare.
Find the right Treichel in the shop.
