Berger bronze bells are made in our own foundry in Bärau in the Emmental. We cast them from an alloy of copper and tin – as cowbells for pasture and alpine grazing, for Swiss traditions and as special gifts.

Berger bronze bells from the Emmental

A sand mould is prepared for every Berger bronze bell. After casting, the mould is opened and the bell freed from the sand. It is then cleaned, finished by hand and inspected. Its shape, size, wall thickness and clapper all influence its sound.

For pasture, tradition and special occasions

Bronze cowbells accompany animals on pasture and alpine grazing land. They are also part of Swiss traditions and valued as gifts, club presents and honorary awards. A suitable leather strap completes the bell for its intended use.

Which bronze bell is right for you?

For use on an animal

Tell us the animal species and how you intend to use the bell. Size and weight must suit the animal. If you already have a suitable bell, its model, dimensions and weight give us a useful comparison. A photograph also helps.

As a gift or honorary award

For a wedding, birthday, retirement or club presentation: tell us the occasion and your wishes for size, sound and strap. At our factory shop in Bärau, you can see the bells and compare their sounds directly. A personal dedication can be inscribed on the buckle or carved into the leather strap.

Choose the right strap

Plain pasture straps suit everyday use. Decorated bell straps with leather carving, metal fittings or fringes make suitable gift straps. When replacing a strap, the buckle’s internal width and the total leather length are decisive. The buckle is not included in the length.
